In the Ghent Folk Violin Project, strings take center stage, deftly balancing classical, jazz and folk. Composer and conductor Wouter Vandenabeele draws on the full range of young talents, each with their own style and métier.
After the success of their tours, they present their album "OGOPOGO" at this Foyer Matinee, full of European traditional music and surprising crossovers.

OGOPOGO is the name of a mythical monster from Canada, similar to the Loch Ness Monster. Like the monster, the music is based on traditions and lore of which little is known.
The stories are fanciful. Does the monster exist or not? It doesn't really matter what the truth is. The legend lives on and each generation adds a new chapter to it. Likewise, the music of GFVP will continue to knit a fantastic tradition full of surprises.
"This group has it all: that strange string combination that turns out to be a plus, a wonderful singer who can handle many styles, a guitarist who takes it all to a higher level, old and self-written material in good arrangements, it's tasteful, there's humor and melancholy, enthusiasm and skill! I think I am running out of compliments... Anyway, I just wanted to say: this is a group to appreciate."
